Course Overview
The Paediatric First Aid Training Programme provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently to medical emergencies involving infants and children. This course is designed for childcare professionals, teachers, and anyone responsible for the care of young children, meeting EYFS and childcare regulatory requirements.
Aims
To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide safe and effective first aid for infants and children.
Skills Practised
This practical course supports learners to:
- Assess emergency situations involving children and infants
- Perform CPR on infants and children
- Use an AED safely in paediatric emergencies
- Manage choking incidents
- Treat bleeding, burns, fractures, and head injuries
- Respond to medical conditions such as asthma, seizures, and anaphylaxis
- Provide care for unresponsive casualties
Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, guided activities, and realistic childcare-based scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the principles of paediatric first aid
- Respond effectively to emergencies involving children and infants
- Deliver safe CPR and emergency first aid for young children
- Manage incidents calmly and appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of incidents
