Course Overview

The Forestry First Aid (+F) Training Programme provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond to emergencies in remote and woodland environments. This course is designed for individuals working in forestry, arboriculture, and outdoor settings where access to emergency services may be delayed.

Aims

To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide effective first aid in remote and high-risk outdoor environments.

Skills Practised

This practical course supports learners to:

  • Assess emergency situations in remote settings
  • Manage major bleeding and trauma injuries
  • Perform CPR and use an AED in outdoor conditions
  • Treat shock, fractures, burns, and environmental injuries
  • Provide care while awaiting emergency services
  • Work safely in challenging outdoor environments

Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, scenario-based training, and outdoor simulations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Respond effectively to emergencies in forestry and remote settings
  • Manage serious injuries in high-risk environments
  • Deliver safe CPR and emergency first aid outdoors
  • Stabilise casualties until help arrives
  • Maintain safety for themselves and others in outdoor incidents
