Course Overview
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Training Programme provides learners with the essential practical skills and knowledge needed to respond confidently to workplace emergencies. Designed for individuals appointed to provide emergency first aid, this course meets Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements and prepares learners to deal with incidents safely until professional help arrives.
Aims
To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide emergency first aid in workplace settings.
Skills Practised
This practical course supports learners to:
- Assess emergency situations safely
- Perform CPR and use an AED confidently
- Manage unconscious casualties
- Treat bleeding, burns, choking, and minor injuries
- Respond to medical emergencies including seizures and shock
- Record and report incidents correctly
Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, guided activities, and realistic scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the role of an emergency first aider
- Respond effectively to workplace emergencies
- Deliver safe CPR and emergency first aid
