This course is suitable for individuals involved in outdoor education, adventure activities, and remote working environments.
Aims
To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide emergency first aid in outdoor and remote environments.
Skills Practised
This practical course supports learners to:
- Assess emergency situations in outdoor settings
- Perform CPR and use an AED confidently
- Manage unconscious casualties
- Treat bleeding, burns, fractures, sprains, and shock
- Respond to environmental injuries such as hypothermia and heat-related illness
- Stabilise casualties until emergency services arrive
Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, guided activities, and realistic outdoor emergency scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Respond effectively to outdoor emergencies
- Deliver safe CPR and emergency first aid outdoors
- Manage injuries where immediate medical assistance may be delayed
- Maintain casualty safety in remote environments
- Recognise when further medical assistance is required
