Course Overview

The Outdoor First Aid Training Programme provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently to emergencies in outdoor and remote environments. This course is designed for individuals working in outdoor education, adventure activities, and remote settings where immediate medical assistance may be delayed.

Aims

To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide effective first aid in outdoor and remote environments.

Skills Practised

This practical course supports learners to:

• Assess emergency situations in outdoor settings
• Manage major and minor injuries in remote environments
• Perform CPR and use an AED in challenging conditions
• Treat fractures, bleeding, burns, and shock
• Respond to environmental injuries such as hypothermia and heat-related illness
• Stabilise casualties until emergency services arrive

Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, scenario-based training, and outdoor simulations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Respond effectively to emergencies in outdoor environments
• Manage injuries where medical help is delayed
• Deliver safe CPR and emergency first aid outdoors
• Maintain casualty safety in remote conditions
• Work confidently in high-risk outdoor situations
