The Emergency Paediatric First Aid Training Programme provides learners with essential skills and knowledge to respond confidently to medical emergencies involving infants and children. This course is designed for childcare staff and those responsible for young children, supporting safe and effective emergency response in line with early years requirements.
Aims
To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to provide emergency first aid for infants and children.
Skills Practised
This practical course supports learners to:
- Assess emergency situations involving children and infants
- Perform CPR on infants and children
- Manage choking incidents
- Treat minor injuries, bleeding, burns, and shock
- Respond to seizures, asthma attacks, and allergic reactions
- Care for an unresponsive child or infant
Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, guided activities, and realistic childcare-based scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Respond effectively to paediatric emergencies
- Deliver safe CPR for infants and children
- Manage common childhood injuries and illnesses
- Provide calm and appropriate emergency care
- Recognise when further medical help is required
