Course Overview

The Basic Life Support & AED Training Programme provides learners with the essential practical skills and knowledge needed to respond confidently during life-threatening emergencies. This course focuses on delivering effective CPR and the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to support casualties until professional medical help arrives.

Aims

To equip learners with the confidence and practical skills required to perform CPR and use an AED safely and effectively during emergencies.

Skills Practised

This practical course supports learners to:

• Assess emergency situations safely
• Perform adult CPR confidently
• Use an AED correctly and safely
• Manage unconscious casualties
• Place casualties in the recovery position
• Respond effectively during cardiac emergencies

Note: Practical skills are developed through demonstrations, guided activities, and supervised practice.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Understand the principles of basic life support
• Recognise signs of cardiac arrest
• Deliver effective CPR safely
